Project Manager / Framework Manager

Lano Sports, a business unit within the Lano Group, are looking to recruit a UK-based Project Manager who will be responsible for running the latest AGP (Artificial Grass Pitches) Football Foundation Framework.
Lano Sports are a leading manufacturer of artificial turf for football, hockey, tennis, rugby and multisport. We share our passion for sports with our customers and this enables us to develop revolutionary systems for sports pitches.

Function

The Framework Manager is to lead, manage and develop best practices in line with the requirements of the Football Foundation Framework. They will be responsible for ensuring Company policies are implemented, monitored and audited, ensuring resources are adequate for the workload, engaging in business improvement programmes and establishing and meeting customer needs.

The Framework

This national framework has been created to procure suppliers for the Football Foundation’s AGP delivery programme.

The objectives of the framework are:

  • To deliver high levels of end user satisfaction with the artificial grass pitch installation that improve and enhance the experience for participation in sport;
  • To deliver a completed artificial grass pitch installation that is sustainable for the facility owner and user;
  • To increase efficiency and deliver added value over the life of the framework through supply chain integration, process improvement and other initiatives, through collaborative working;
  • To learn from shared experiences on the framework and to adapt, develop and improve the quality of artificial grass pitch installations over the life of the Framework Alliance Contract.

The value of works for this 4-year framework is £252m with an anticipated delivery of 100 no. pitches per annum. Contracts will be secured via a competitive, or direct awards procedure. Once secured, projects will involve a two-stage design and build approach.

Lano Sports will be delivering these framework projects alongside their construction partners CLS Sports.

Key Responsibilities:

Health, safety and environmental
Ensure Company policies and improvement action plans are effectively implemented, monitored and audited
Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated, with remedies implemented
Monitor performance and safety requirements regularly, and implement improvements

Policy and strategy
Operate in line with Company policies and strategies, and be proactive in promoting improvement locally
Develop and implement policies in line with the policies of the Football Foundation
Secure new work by inputting into the mini-tender submission
Ensure effective risk management of business activities

Resource and design management
Ensure design resources are adequate for the workload and that designs are delivered in an economic and timely manner
Identify innovation and efficient solutions within the design investigation phase
Ensure that risk based efficient and innovative options are developed and offered to the Client
Engage proactively in the principles of supply chain management

Team leadership and development
Encourage team involvement in, and ownership of, the Company business aims and business improvement
Ensure clear roles and responsibilities are understood throughout the team and hold people properly accountable for their work
Encourage team spirit through the display of appropriate behaviour and attitude at all times

Operational performance
Reduce cost and maximise value and profit
Ensure effective planning and delivery at all key stages of the project (KSI’s) in accordance with the requirements of RLF/Sports Labs and the Football Foundation
Work to clear measurable targets for performance expectations, both individually and for the team
Manage risk throughout the life cycle of a project
Ensure that all projects use programming as a key management tool and that projects run with this as a priority
Keep teams (and clients) abreast of latest innovations proposed
Identify, monitor and reduce waste in all activities
Identify and react swiftly to resolve problems before they escalate
Manage and ensure receipt of outstanding project variations with RLF
Carry out Maintenance Aftercare Visits to each and every project 6-monthly, write up a visit report and send to all who need to know outcomes
Ensure maintenance packages are let and that procedures are being followed, including infill top-ups and long term maintenance contracts between client and specialist

Financial performance
Ensure that all value and entitlement is identified and realised
Prepare timely ‘exception’ reports for projects that under-perform
Manage payment certificates/client invoicing/valuation applications/internal invoicing proactively across the framework activities
Monitor and chase up if necessary all payment certificates from RLF
Chase up payments from clients proactively whilst involving RLF/Cleveland in the event of slow/non-payers
Manage credit facility and payments due to/from Cleveland/Lano (between each other)

Business improvement
Actively engage in ‘business improvement’ and ‘change’ programmes
Develop, maintain, measure and improve performance against agreed KPI’s
Champion a theme of improvement and ‘best practice’
Carry out interim and post-contract reviews, both internally and with customers/RLF
Position Lano strongly within RLF and the Football Foundation

Customer satisfaction
Identify customer needs early and understand how they will measure performance
Carry out customer satisfaction measurement by appropriate methods, ensuring that any improvements or actions are communicated  
Establish good relationships and communication at all times and resolve issues and early resolution of any potential problems
Demonstrate to clients our added value (to them) performance

Key relationships:
Commercial Manager, H&S Manager and Contracts Director/Managers
Site management and regional support staff
Key Stakeholders
RLF/Sports Labs
Design Management Team

Additional Functions:
Whilst primarily fulfilling the roles above, they will also be asked to carry out additional roles at the jurisdiction of both the Cleveland and Lano management team. Such roles to include site visits, problem solving, complaint handling, sales visits etc.

Working from home, the individual will occasionally need to visit both the Cleveland and Lano Sports UK and Belgium offices as required.

The successful candidate will be employed by Lano Sports NV but work under the direction of both the Directors of Cleveland and UK Management of Lano Sports

 

Profile

Essential
A genuine understanding of the role and key responsibilities outlined above
Educated to minimum A level, preferably University Degree
Excellent communication and writing skills
Ability to communicate both up and down within Lano/Cleveland and the Client Organisations
Excellent time management skills, with ability to deliver tasks to deadline
IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office package
Ability to encourage and enable personal development of, and recognise and reward team
Ability to lead by and set an example
Experience in building collaborative relationships with existing and new clients and suppliers
A clean driving license and happy and able to cover considerable mileage and stay away from home when required
