Environmental Policy & Initiatives

Lano Carpets make a significant contribution to improving indoor living standards, conservation of energy and are ecologically friendly.

Throughout the entire sourcing, production and delivery process, Lano is committed to fulfilling its environmental obligations as a responsible company. Through both direct and indirect activities, Lano is working towards reducing any negative effect that our footprint may have on the environment.

Environmental considerations are integrated throughout all aspects of Lano’s business from supplier through each process, to carpet and finally to the customers installation.

Working with all stakeholders, Lano closely monitor and analyse each business division to ensure that it is achieving a clear objective of a more sustainable future. Wool carpets are environmental Friendly

The inherent benefits of carpets are many fold and many of these offer significant benefits to environmental influences.

Hardwearing: Wool and woolrich carpets are extremely hard wearing. Well constructed products, such as those from the Lano stable, ensure that carpets wear well, keep their good looks longer and are easier to maintain. The result is longer lifecycle costs, so a carpet that needs replacement less often uses less raw materials, creates less waste and is therefore better for the environment.

Acoustics: Carpets not only absorb airborne noise but they also reduce impact noise at the source. The heavier the carpet the better impact they have on sound insulation

Thermal insulation: The superior thermal insulation properties offered by wool carpets result in the burning of less raw materials to maintain the comfort of the occupants of the building. Wool and wool rich carpets increase the sense of comfort as it reduces heat loss from the body to the floor by radiation and by contact with the feet. Wool is also an excellent thermal insulator. Important energy saving have been recorded in practical situations. Over the life of a carpet, this can make a dramatic contribution to energy saving.

Safety: The contribution of carpet to safety in the home and commercial interior has been well documented in terms of slipping, falls and fire. Wool is recognised as the safest fibre in terms of flammability and smoke emissions.

Health: The positive impact wool has on the indoor environment is well researched and proven. Wool carpets remove common air contaminates such as formaldehyde, nitrogen and sulphur dioxide. Wool rich carpeting will also exert an important buffering effect on the humidity within a building, absorbing and releasing moisture to maintain a more constant and comfortable atmosphere.
