Woven

A woven carpet is a three-dimensional structure made of three systems of yarns, namely the bottom chain, the pile chain and the weft. The most important part of the carpet is the pile chain because it forms the surface of the carpet. It is based on more resilient and wear-resistant raw materials: in most cases wool or heatset polypropylene.
The pile has two possible appearances: it consists either of loops sticking out of the surface or, when the loops have been cut through, of velvet.

Normally a woven carpet can have 8 colours. It is either broadloom woven (400 cm) or woven in specific dimensions in length and width (area rugs). Whenever we need a great number of colours, we use the Axminster technique. The Axminster looms owned by Lano Carpets allow us to weave up to 16 different colours into one carpet. Axminster is available for broadloom weaving as well as for area rugs.
